Although there were many hardships that the industry had to endure in 2022 including lengthy material supply issues, repeated pricing increases and continued skilled worker shortages I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the great year that 2022 was overall and all the success that the Virginia chapter and its membership have contributed to. The last year represented some considerable all-time highs within the chapter. With the return to a sense of normalcy in the industry after the pandemic and the ability and openness of our industry partners to meet in larger groups again the chapter was very proactive in bringing people together for both educational and entertaining events. The chapter held its annual golf outing for scholarship fundraising in the spring. Even with some chilly spring temperatures this event was the most well attended golf outing in over 10 years showing the true vitality of the chapter. With some great networking, food and golf we look forward to building on that base with an even better attended event this April. Beyond just entertainment / networking the chapter is dedicated to continued education of its members. To that end the chapter has continued to improve and fine tune our very successful fall demo day event. This past years Demo Day was the most well attended day to date with a wide variety of industry disciplines including contractors, engineers, manufacturers & suppliers represented. The hands-on demonstrations and participant involvement made the day both fun and informative. We look forward to 2023 being even bigger and better and continuing to share the incredible knowledge base that our chapter and its members have to better serve our industry and our clients.

As all local ICRI chapter boards know there is a considerable amount of time and effort that is freely given by the board members to make the chapter flourish. I wanted to thank all those board members and chapter sponsors who contributed to our joint success in 2022. The Virginia chapter has always adapted and evolved to provide the best benefit for their members. To that end we welcome several new board members for 2023 and look forward to their insights and ideas which will only serve to help the chapter prosper moving forward and making 2023 an incredible year. With the current board members and new faces, the chapter is in excellent hands to be able to build on our current momentum. I look forward to seeing next year’s presidents message extoling how 2023 has been the best year ever experienced.
